Arm
Wrestling

„Kršenje (prelamanje) šaka" — the classic duel of strength and will, in a direct trial of arms.

Hand-Breaking
("Kršenje Šaka")

Very often, young men sitting at a table would test the strength of their arms by "breaking" hands. One sits on one side, the other on the opposite side of the table.

They place the elbow joint on the surface of the table, usually of the right arm ("right-handers"), and their forearms are pressed firmly against one another. With fingers spread and interlocked, they grip each other's hands tightly.

Then the contest begins to bend down the hand and forearm, in which the more skillful and stronger has the advantage. The winner is whoever manages to force the other's hand down onto the table. The game continues as a new challenger takes the loser's place to test his strength and skill against the winner.

Variants
of Hand-Breaking

01
Standard
Grip

Fingers spread and interlocked, the hands are gripped firmly together, with the elbow joint resting on the table. The winner is whoever brings the opponent's arm down.

02
Thumb
Grip

On the same principle, strength is tested by breaking hands and forearms while gripping with the thumb curled inward — a special variant that demands exceptional grip strength.
